By Emma Hill, PT, DPT – Leaps and Bounds Physical Therapist
When I became a pediatric physical therapist, I never imagined I’d also become a medical mama someday. But here we are! Having a child with medical complexities changed the way I think about everything—especially adaptive clothing for medically complex babies.
We quickly realized how important it was to have outfits that allowed easy access to my daughter’s medical lines, and now her g-tube, without sacrificing the joy of dressing her in all the adorable baby clothes we’d see in stores.
As a therapist, I’ve also seen firsthand how adaptive clothing for medically complex babies can make a huge difference for both safety and convenience—especially during emergencies, like seizures, medication administration, or when quick airway access is needed. Adaptive designs help us track lines and tubes more easily and avoid accidental disconnections or pulling.
After a lot of searching (and shopping!), we’ve found some amazing brands that offer both functional and stylish options for kids with medical needs. Below are our absolute favorites—complete with links, discount codes, and some tips on what makes each one special.
